Senior Business Analyst

  • Fixed term position for 12 months

  • Competitive base salary plus 17 % super

About This Opportunity 

The University is acquiring new Human Resource, Workforce Management and Payroll Systems that will function as the Human Capital Management Solution (HCMS). The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for working with stakeholders across the University to identify and document the impacts to University applications and business processes that have a touch-point with the new HCMS.  The Senior Business Analyst will work to assess the opportunity and impact of the HCM Solution, analyse and document business processes and identify opportunities for business process enhancement.  

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Business Process Analysis

  • Lead business engagement across the Organisation that have a touchpoint with the new Human Capital Management Solution (HCMS).  Serving as a translator between the Program and the UQ community to collect, clarify, analyse and translate business requirements into documentation and design.

  • Develop future state business processes, consolidating all impacts and changes from the Human Capital Management Program into clear specifications.

  • Work with the engagement team to identify current/future state change impacts as a results of the new HCMS solution. 

  • Analysis of business process, functional, integration, data touch points of impacted areas as required to document business processes

  • Develop and maintain of design documents.  Develop and maintain this design documentation throughout the project life-cycle.

  • Project manage and monitor completion of agreed plans to ensure preparation activities are completed.

  • Undertake project management of agreed deliverables including negotiation and liaison with stakeholders to ensure that agreed plans are achieved and that appropriate change management processes are undertaken.

Solution Design

  • Undertaking continuous improvement activities within the program to ensure services are delivered more efficiently and providing support to stakeholders through appropriate change management activities.

  • Assisting the Program to design new solutions, processes, modify, enhance or adapt existing processes and integrate new features or improvements, all with the aim of improving business efficiency and productivity.

  • Working collaboratively with solution architects, business stakeholders, project managers and developers to ensure successful and timely delivery of program deliverables.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the following

Essential criteria:

  • Qualifications and training equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT, business or related field, or significant progress towards such qualifications, and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Significant experience in business analysis and requirements gathering across large and complex programs, with the demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and peers to gather requirements, conduct analysis, produce solution designs and prioritise delivery, in accordance with agreed service delivery expectations.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to conceptualise, establish and implement new initiatives and innovative solutions within a specified framework.

  • Experience working within an agile development environment and with software development lifecycle methodologies.

  • Excellent written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to write clear and precise user and technical specifications.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to effectively mentor and provide technical leadership to other team members and to communicate and negotiate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and provide recommendations on relevant emerging technologies, research, methodologies and best practices and develop and deliver services that utilise best practice and appropriate technology to meet the University’s business requirements.

  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Commitment to upholding the University’s values, and with the outstanding personal qualities of openness, respectfulness and integrity.

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience and knowledge in Aurion.

  • Experience with large Human Capital Management related programs.

  • Experience using the Atlassian products Confluence and JIRA.
