These are temporary full-time positions (i.e., 37.5 hours/week), but dates and hours of employment vary with each position typically running from 6-9 months.
Depending upon availability, positions may be open in any or all the following sections:
FISH CULTURE: Assist biologist and/or technicians in the daily care and rearing of a variety of fish species that will be stocked into Kentucky’s waters. Duties can include spawning of adult fish, feeding, measuring growth, observing behavior of juvenile fish, daily cleaning of rearing units, harvesting ponds, stocking fish and grounds maintenance of hatchery facilities.

Minor Clark Fish Hatchery (Rowan Co.) (5 positions) March-October 2023
Pfeiffer Fish Hatchery (Franklin Co.) (2 Positions) March-August 2023
CREEL SURVEY CLERK: Creel Clerks will interview anglers at specific lake locations to obtain effort, harvest, angler perceptions, and fishery quality. Work will be conducted independently at the lakes utilizing boats. These positions will consist of 30-37.5 hours per week and require morning, evening, and weekend work. March-October 2023

CRITICAL SPECIES INVESTIGATION: Assist biologists and/or technicians with invasive carp management and removal efforts in Kentucky waters. Duties include data compilation and observation of commercial fishers, assisting with netting and removal of invasive carps, equipment maintenance, database entry, and other duties as assigned. These positions may require some morning, evening, and overnight work with frequent travel required.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
Franklin Co. (5 Positions) October 2022-June 2023
STREAM AND WETLAND MITIGATION: Assist engineers, and environmental scientists with stream and wetland mitigation projects statewide. Duties include invasive species (vegetation) management, habitat management on stream and wetland restoration sites including surrounding lands and WMA’s, property boundary marking, assisting with stream and wetland construction projects, and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds. These positions require travel to mitigations sites and properties statewide and may require the use of equipment and heavy lifting.
