Secondment – Manager Learning Development & Processes

We have an opportunity for a fixed term secondment from 7 November 2022 to 17 March 2023.

The purpose of the role is to manage the key tasks and responsibilities of the Manager Learning Development & Processes while we recruit to replace the permanent incumbent following their resignation. The role is .5 FTE and will receive a Special Responsibilities Allowance in recognition of higher duties.

Mō te tūnga About the role

The Manager, Learning Projects and Processes is responsible for ensuring the LDD directorate has sufficient capacity, efficient processes and suitable systems across its multiple activities. The role manages a small yet vital resource coordination and administrative team supporting the directorate’s various activities and ensures that all projects are developed in accordance with agreed deliverables, budgets and design parameters. The role also continuously improves cross-directorate processes and is the coordinating point for all systems used for planning, tracking and reporting on projects with a view toward effective capacity management and efficiency.

As Manager, Learning Projects and Processes you will be responsible for:

  • Development and maintenance projects, including reporting, scheduling and budgeting
  • The responsive and effective allocation of development resources to current and future projects, both programme-based and commercial
  • Maintaining a long-term view of portfolio and course development, with an emphasis on capacity planning
  • Maintaining and further developing all operating processes related to the Learning Design and Development directorate

  • A tertiary qualification
  • Relevant work experience, including managing staff, budgets, and resources (preferably in a tertiary institution
  • Experience in project management and resource planning
  • Experience in process design and improvement
  • Experience in contract management and working with contractors
  • Experience in building self-directed teams
