| Brief Summary of Job Description | The Lead Teacher is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the classroom. Responsibilities include overseeing the general care of the children attending each day and supervising student employees in the classroom. The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and facilitating learning activities in the room and overseeing the assessment of each child. The Lead teacher will also work with a variety of entities on Early Childhood research and observation. |
| Job Duties | Provide proper care for the children per their needs. Provide comfort, support, and consistency in routine. Develop care plans for each child incorporating other teachers working in the room. Communicate with parents as to their child’s daily happenings and any concerns regarding their child. Complete CACFP recording documents per Department of Education requirements. Prepare planned activities for children using chosen curriculum, facilitate the activities, and supervise any other teachers facilitating the activities with the children. Administer the chosen assessment program with each child. Supervise student teachers and classroom volunteers in the classroom. Keep room in good, clean condition as per licensing standards. Keep classroom interesting by rotating activities and toys. Comply with licensing requirements and attain Continuing Education hours. |
| Required Qualifications | Must be at least 18 years of age. The individual shall meet at least one of the following: a. Have a High School Diploma or GED; and i. Obtain a written Department approved plan to acquire at least 3 credit hours or 15 clock hours of in-service in the area of child development, early childhood education, or childcare administration in a period not to exceed 12 months. ii. 1500 verified clock hours of experience in organized group activities for young children as indicated by a positive reference from a former employer or supervisor. b. Have a Child Development Associate Credential c. Hold an associate degree in fields related to the care/education of children age 0-12 (i.e., early education, special education). |
| Preferred Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University in Early Childhood Education, education, or child/youth development. Hold a current Teaching certificate. |
