The Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton invites applications for a tenure-track position in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence on 1 January 2027.

The minimum qualification for this appointment is a Ph.D. in Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering or a closely related field. Forward-thinking applicants with a substantial research background in the field of positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) or adjacent fields are sought for this position. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellence in teaching Geodesy or Geomatics subjects at a university level, ideally in the fields of positioning, navigation, geodesy, or adjustment calculus, and will be required to teach courses that may include GGE 4211: Geodesy II, GGE 3122: Advanced Adjustments, GGE 5042/6042: Kinematic Positioning, or similar subjects. They should be comfortable with online education and ideally have experience teaching mixed classes of in-person and remote students. Applicants must be eligible and willing to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of New Brunswick.
This is an opportunity to join a small but powerful department with a strong international reputation in teaching and research, at a time of growth and new opportunities. They will develop an innovative and impactful research program in PNT and related fields (e.g. simultaneous location and mapping), including collaborations within and outside of the university. They will be expected to supervise students; to be active in service roles; to deliver graduate and undergraduate courses, including courses taught in a hybrid form; and to provide leadership in research and teaching at UNB and in professional, national and international communities. Work will be carried out in English. The successful applicant will join the faculty team at UNB Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering and will work in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
