The successful candidate is responsible for administering national and international third-party funded projects and supporting our scientists in related matters during the full lifetime of the grant. The Grants Officer will accurately track project costs, budgeting, statistics, and compliance while generating necessary reports and financial statements to proactively ensure optimal use of funds. As part of our team, you will handle a portfolio of over 70 active grants totaling 36 million EUR, with funding from EU, HFSP, BMBF, DFG, NIH, VW, and other industry sources and agencies. You serve as a bridge between our administration, funding agencies, and the scientists of the institute.
We are looking for a service-oriented, self-motivated and reliable person with a finance or project management background, who enjoys being part of an ambitious team in an international setting. Through close contact with researchers and administration, you develop a unique interdisciplinary perspective and valuable insights into cutting edge science. Prior knowledge of German public sector and third-party funding schemes is advantageous, but not a must.
The Grants Officer joins the Finance Department of the MPI-CBG, an institute of the world-renowned Max Planck Society conducting ground-breaking biomedical research at the forefront of science. Currently about 500 employees work at the institute, where half are from abroad, representing 53 nations. The institute has won several prizes for its optimal work conditions and family-friendly environment.

Our offer
The position is available as of 01.01.2023 with a 2-year limited contract. Salary will depend on the experience and qualifications of the candidate, up to TVöD EG 9b. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
