Description
The reporting location for this position is Paso Picacho Campground Offices in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park. This position will work under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).

The Forester II (Supervisory) is a first line supervisor for the Colorado Desert District Natural Resource team. Office based in the Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, the incumbent conducts and leads a broad range of extremely complex and difficult forestry projects, in line with goals and objectives of State Parks Wildfire and Forest Resilience Program – and provides supervision and training to district staff throughout the State Park System and District. The Forester II responsibilities involve varying levels of professional forestry duties. The position duties will include but are not limited to: planning, promoting and developing forest management projects to include wildfire and prescribed fire management and forest resilience goals within the District; develop, supervise and schedule tree hazard, wildfire safety and forest management, and forest pest management programs; assist with District Reforestation project planning, scheduling, goals and needs; CEQA project design/analysis; develop and implement range and watershed management goals, and develop and implementation of long-term forest management strategies; serve as State Representative for local agency and other fire outreach community groups; serve as Agency Representative for wildfire related incidents, completes other Resources Management Assignments as directed.

The district consists of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park®, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, and Palomar Mountain State Park. The majority of the District is located in San Diego County; Anza-Borrego Desert State Park® also extends into Riverside and Imperial counties.

During the regional prescribed burn and wildfire seasons, this position may work variable hours including nights and weekends, as needed.

This position requires a valid California Class “C” Driver’s license.

Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

Working Conditions
The working conditions will be a combination of office and field.
Temperatures range from below freezing to above 100F.
Spike camping may be required.
Travel may be required.
Erratic or overnight hours may be required.
During the regional prescribed burn and wildfire seasons, this position may work variable hours including nights and weekends, as needed.

Qualifications
Special Requirements
The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
The position(s) require(s) a(n) Registered Professional Forester License License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
This position requires a Registered Professional Forester’s license issued by the California State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection. Please provide proof of eligibility with application.

Candidates that believe they meet the Minimum qualifications based on a pattern of education from the classification description (specifications) must provide a copy of your degree/transcripts and/or license along with your application (STD. 678) to be considered for this position. If selected for the position Official sealed transcripts will be required prior to appointment.
