JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Thomas D. Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute within the College of Engineering is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to coordinate a variety of transportation research and educational programs.

The successful candidate will:

• Manage program development and logistics for the Transportation Asset and Infrastructure Management (TAIM) and Transportation Engineering and Safety Conferences (TESC). These conferences are held annually in State College, Pennsylvania, and involve coordination with Penn State’s Conferences and Institutes, as well as meeting facilitation with the conference planning committees, made up of representatives from the transportation industry.

• Work with the Institute Director to coordinate the research, education, and outreach activities for the Institute’s Center for Integrated Asset Management for Multimodal Transportation Infrastructure Systems. This includes interaction with faculty on research project administration, organizing webinars, submitting project deliverables to the sponsor, and maintaining general grant documentation. 

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires excellent organizational skills and written and oral communication skills. The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and plan, organize, and facilitate coordination among research and educational stakeholders is essential. Knowledge of MS Office products and basic project management tools is necessary. Familiarity with a research administration setting is desired.
