Position Overview This position will report directly to the SW Idaho CEO and play a leadership role as a member of the SW Idaho team. Key responsibilities include coordinating with the academic leaders and faculty to develop programs which address workforce needs where they intersect with University of Idaho expertise. In addition, this position will play an important role to identify new markets for degrees and credentials including undergraduate, graduate and certificates to address professional development needs in SW Idaho.
Further responsibilities involve extensive coordination and communication with deans, associate deans, department chairs, and faculty in Moscow, Boise and other locations. In addition, the Director will regularly engage in and organize meetings and other communications with business and public sector representatives, students and potential students.
The Director will serve as a front-line representative of the U of I Boise Executive Officer in program coordination and in some collaborative efforts with other higher education institutions.
The Director serves in a leadership role as a contributing member of the U of I Boise team, and Executive Officer’s staff.
Unit Overview The University of Idaho Boise provides access to all University of Idaho resources to southwest Idaho. U of I Boise is focused on community impact, regional economic development and supporting university growth, as well as having an engaged university campus with a climate of inclusion for employees throughout its regions of responsibility.

Position Responsibilities

Key Accountability Promote the University of Idaho and its offerings in the Treasure Valley by:
Job Duties
  • Collaborating with the Executive Officer to ensure that U of I Boise is well represented to all sectors of Treasure Valley businesses through interactive participation in community events.
  • Participation with relevant local, regional or national organizations to promote the University.
  • Cultivating new programmatic markets for U of I Boise in collaboration with Executive Officer, Vice Provost of Academic Initiatives and college deans looking to implement programs and professional development based in the SW Idaho market.
  • Providing project management and helping coordinate internal processes to launch new programs and supplement courses for current programs in SW Idaho. Assessing landscape for partnerships with community colleges and support implementation of those partnerships.
  • Coordinating use of faculty as guest speakers in local speaker’s forums and other appropriate venues, hosting and/or offering U of I Executive, Professional & Continuing Education Programs and other business development opportunities.
  • Coordinating with UCM in design of promotional materials focused on strategic markets.
  • Occasionally addressing potential undergraduate and parent groups and potential graduate students and groups.
  • Collaborating with U of I Extension and other entities to promote programs and to increase enrollment, service to the community and visibility.
  • Serving as a U of I Boise participant in career fairs and other external promotional events as appropriate.
  • Serving as a liaison with customer and advisory groups.
Key Accountability Facilitate and support U of I Boise programs by:

  • Promoting and coordinating program delivery efforts in southern Idaho, focusing on continuous improvement and sustainability.
  • Coordinating partnership programs with regional colleges and universities.
  • Facilitating and maintaining MOU’s and other agreements intended to enhance partnership with shared programs.
Key Accountability Identify growth and development of program offerings by:
Job Duties
  • Analyzing and identifying program growth potential and interdisciplinary opportunities in southern Idaho among colleges, multidisciplinary groups, agency personnel and others.
  • Analyzing needs expressed for specialized credit and non-credit offerings and coordinating U of I resources to address needs.
  • Analyzing data on program capacity for potential expansion.
  • Facilitating strategically focused programmatic needs assessment consistent with the U of I Boise mission and strategic focus.
  • Establishing and implementing strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures as part of U of I Boise management team.
  • Making recommendations to U of I Boise Center Executive Officer, college deans and other U of I programmatic leadership on opportunities specific to southern Idaho, particularly graduate degree programs, undergraduate 2+2, distance offerings, certificate programs, conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Key Accountability Collaborates in strategic planning, policy development and implementation of the University of Idaho mission in Boise and the Southern Region by:
Job Duties
  • Initiating, coordinating and delivering special projects as identified by the Center Executive Officer.
  • Developing relationships across colleges/units housed at the Boise Center/Southern Region for greater cohesiveness.
Key Accountability Participation in university meetings, events, functions and service by:
Job Duties
  • Serving on university committees and participation in university meetings, events and functions in all geographic regions.
  • Participating in university sponsored activities as appropriate whether they are based in Moscow or other geographic locations.

Position Qualifications

Required Experience
  • Experience with program planning and implementation.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Experience in organizing educational seminars, programs, workshops, events, exhibits, fairs, etc.
  • Experience in facilitating group discussion and consensus building.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies, with faculty, administrators and community partners.
Required Education
  • Bachelors degree
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Additional Preferred
  • Higher education work experience including program management.
  • Excellent organizational, written, oral and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and independently.
  • Strong computer skills with a variety of software.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to part-time working professional students and graduate programs.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with University of Idaho programs.
  • Knowledge of Southern Idaho/Treasure Valley community businesses, non-profit organizations and educational institutions.

Working Conditions
  • Daily office hours, occasional evening and weekend work is required. Local and occasional out-of-state travel will be required.
