Position Overview
KU Operations supports KU’s mission of learning, scholarship, and creative endeavor by operating and maintaining the University’s physical plant and grounds. The Accountant position supports Facilities Planning & Development (FPD), a division of KU Operations. FPD provides design and construction services for over 200 University buildings (9.5 million gross square feet of space) and over 1,000 acres of University property on the Main and West Campuses in Lawrence, the Edwards Campus in Overland Park, the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson and other off-campus locations. This position requires superior organizational and communication skills while providing customer support to a wide variety of customers. Must work well under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize appropriately, and be able to work independently with indirect supervision.

Job Description
35% – Route, process and track payments for professional, ancillary services, on-call, construction contracts and material procurement. Request tax exemption certificates for construction projects. Assist in processing approved contract addenda, change orders and authorizations. Work with project managers on budgets, funding expenses and project status. Communicate with vendors regarding payment issues. Communicate with clients regarding contractual documents and payments.
30% – Review project balances and reconcile budgets. Request cost centers and manage new vendor setup. Bill outside departments and agencies for project expenses. Enter, receive, and close Maximo POs. Enter funding payments and reconcile closed projects in Maximo. Provide project financial analysis upon request of project managers. Help in preparation of historical tax credit applications.
10% – Aid project managers in the preparation of construction contracts. Work with KU General Council to assure that contracts are appropriate and within the set guidelines previously approved. Distribute and file contracts. Ensure contracts are posted in FITC by Purchasing.
10% – Assist project managers in procurement of materials and services. Assist with POs for bidding materials and services and work with the project managers and Procurement on bid documents. File and maintain all bid materials.
5% – Assist in tracking expenditures and updating cost matrix. Aid in year-end cleanup of projects. Work with the Comptroller’s Office on the same.
5% – Documentation of the procedures for Facilities Planning & Development accounting.
5% – Annual reporting and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
This position is deemed hybrid – a combination of on-site and remote work on a schedule to be determined by the supervisor and successful candidate.
