| Position Details | The Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science Programs are U.S Department of Education funded programs, through which local high school students are supported. The grants held by Wesleyan University serve Maloney HS in Meriden, Platt HS in Meriden, and Middletown HS. Reporting to the Director of Upward Bound Math-Science, the Program Coordinator will work in furthering pre-college access and program goals to assist eligible low-income, first-generation college bound participants to succeed academically and to prepare for college. The Program Coordinator will work directly with program participants throughout the school year and during the summer program.

| Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience working with educational programs in a school, community organization or higher education environment with students from disadvantaged backgrounds, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Proven knowledge about college access issues low-income and first-generation students face. Proven knowledge of college and financial aid application process. Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to effectively manage projects. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to regularly travel to target high schools. Ability to work some weekends, evenings, overnights and holidays throughout the year based on program needs. Demonstrated commitment to work within a diverse environment and interact openly with individuals of different backgrounds. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of a second language. Exposure to TRIO or educational opportunity programs. Awareness of post-secondary STEM pathways and careers. |
