JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission

Action Lab for Development is dedicated to advancing education, food security, and advocacy to empower entrepreneurs, newcomers and promote creative economies in Canada. We envision a future where local innovators and newcomers have the resources to thrive through growth and development.
Our mission includes five key objectives:
We provide tools and opportunities for creative innovation and entrepreneurship, focusing on continuous improvement.
We enable networking and training activities to connect entrepreneurs, institutions, and partners.
We educate entrepreneurs and newcomers about fair business practices and social responsibility.
We guide emerging entrepreneurs in understanding social and business ecosystems through essential skills and techniques.
We encourage youth involvement in volunteering and ensure universal access to research and education by building digital platforms for community knowledge and supporting local ingenuity.
Action Lab For Development was registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta-Canada in 2024, granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2020, reflecting our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our primary focus areas include:
• Food Security
• Advocacy
• Education
• These initiatives aim to positively impact local innovators, including newcomers in Canada who may be facing challenges related to integration into a new environment and starting life. Our research shows that access to education, particularly in social entrepreneurship, is a powerful tool for these individuals. It enables them to turn their experiences into practical solutions that benefit their communities.

Context

Action Lab For Development is developing MoralityCode AI, an innovative research initiative exploring how ethical AI can support public health education and community wellbeing through a privacy-focused, non-diagnostic mobile application. As the project enters its next phase, we are seeking healthcare and public health online volunteers to independently review a key System Design Document covering AI governance, data privacy, health information management, and ethical safeguards. Your expertise will help shape the foundation of a responsible digital health research platform before development progresses, ensuring that healthcare, ethics, and user protection remain central to its design.

Key Responsibilities

Action Lab For Development is seeking three Online Volunteers with expertise in healthcare, public health, medical ethics, or health informatics to review the MoralityCode AI System Design Document.
MoralityCode AI is an emerging research initiative exploring how ethical AI can support public health education through a privacy-focused, non-diagnostic mobile application.

Online volunteers will independently assess the proposed system design, including health data governance, privacy safeguards, AI integration, and ethical considerations, and provide professional recommendations to strengthen the project before its next phase of development.
This assignment is limited to reviewing the System Design Document and submitting constructive written feedback to help shape a responsible and ethically governed digital health research platform.

Each of the three Online Volunteers will independently review the MoralityCode AI System Design Document (approximately five pages) and submit one written review highlighting observations, potential improvements, and recommendations related to healthcare, ethics, privacy, and responsible AI governance.

Required Skills and Experience

Applicants should have professional experience in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, public health, health research, health informatics, medical ethics, or bioethics. They should demonstrate an understanding of healthcare documentation, ethical management of health information, and strong analytical and written communication skills.
