Action Lab for Development is dedicated to advancing education, food security, and advocacy to empower entrepreneurs, newcomers and promote creative economies in Canada. We envision a future where local innovators and newcomers have the resources to thrive through growth and development.
Our mission includes five key objectives:
We provide tools and opportunities for creative innovation and entrepreneurship, focusing on continuous improvement.
We enable networking and training activities to connect entrepreneurs, institutions, and partners.
We educate entrepreneurs and newcomers about fair business practices and social responsibility.
We guide emerging entrepreneurs in understanding social and business ecosystems through essential skills and techniques.
We encourage youth involvement in volunteering and ensure universal access to research and education by building digital platforms for community knowledge and supporting local ingenuity.
Action Lab For Development was registered as an Extra-Provincial Corporation in Alberta-Canada in 2024, granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 2020, reflecting our commitment to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Our primary focus areas include:
• Food Security
• Advocacy
• Education
• These initiatives aim to positively impact local innovators, including newcomers in Canada who may be facing challenges related to integration into a new environment and starting life. Our research shows that access to education, particularly in social entrepreneurship, is a powerful tool for these individuals. It enables them to turn their experiences into practical solutions that benefit their communities.
Born from a journey of trauma, healing, and spiritual awakening, the MoralityCode Mobile App is a pioneering ethical decision-making tool designed to address the emotional and moral gaps in modern AI systems.
Already functional and available for download, the app integrates technology, moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, cultural anthropology, and a health-informed ethical model to guide users through complex moral dilemmas with clarity and depth.
In this Version 2 enhancement phase, the focus is to:
• Strengthen User Experience (UX) by refining navigation, user journeys, and interaction flow to ensure intuitive and seamless engagement.
• Elevate User Interface (UI) design through improved visual storytelling, accessibility, typography, color systems, and culturally responsive design elements.
This phase centers on structured enhancement and optimization—ensuring the app becomes more intuitive, inclusive, emotionally intelligent, and globally accessible, while preserving its philosophical and ethical depth.
Action Lab for Development is seeking Two (2) online volunteers for UX/UI Designer Support to contribute to the enhancement of the MoralityCode Mobile App (Version 2) – an innovative ethical decision-making tool integrating moral philosophy, emotional intelligence, cultural anthropology, and a health and medical model. The app is already functional and available for download. This second phase focuses on improving user experience, enhancing interface responsiveness, refining visual dilemmas, and ensuring the app communicates complex moral and emotional concepts clearly.
Each volunteer will be assigned a distinct enhancement area following our one-task-per-volunteer principle to ensure clarity, accountability, and measurable impact.
Objective: MoralityCode UX/UI Enhancement
The online volunteers will refine and redesign aspects of the MoralityCode app to ensure it is intuitive, empathetic, accessible, and visually engaging, while reflecting the moral and emotional complexity of the content. Online volunteers will build upon the existing designs, making them more effective and polished for a global audience.
Each online volunteer will focus on a distinct area of UX/UI enhancement. This ensures clarity, accountability, and measurable impact.
Volunteer 1 – User Experience (UX) & Navigation Focus:
• Analyze and refine app workflows to ensure intuitive navigation and seamless user journeys.
• Review and improve wireframes and interactive prototypes, emphasizing usability and logical task flow.
• Collaborate with AI and App developers to ensure the interface supports complex moral scenarios smoothly.
• Test user flows and propose improvements based on simulated user feedback.
Volunteer 2 – User Interface (UI) & Visual Design Focus:
• Enhance the visual elements of the app, including color schemes, typography, iconography, and layout.
• Create empathy-first interfaces that communicate ethical dilemmas, moral reasoning, and cultural nuances effectively.
• Ensure designs are accessible and inclusive for a global audience.
• Refine high-fidelity mockups to maximize emotional engagement and visual clarity.
The first online volunteer (UX focus) should have a background in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field, with experience designing user journeys for mobile applications and demonstrated expertise in wireframing and prototyping.
The second online volunteer (UI focus) should have a background in UI Design, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or a related field, with experience creating high-fidelity mock-ups for mobile applications and a strong portfolio showcasing polished, contemporary UI work.
