Position Summary
The Human Resources Administrator for the Division of Public Health Flint will serve as the primary resource and strategic partner with all public health researchers, their respective teams, the director of DPH. This position will oversee, support, coordinate, counsel, and make recommendations to public health researchers, department administrators, supervisors, employees, and students regarding compliance for central Human Resource policy and procedures as well as human resource functions including employee relations, recruitment, compensation, performance management, and other complex HR issues. Also, this position will partner with the DPH Administrator on process improvement initiatives as well as identify training and development opportunities within the HR realm holistically. The role include responsibility to review and approve EBS transactions; assist with recruitment efforts for faculty, academic staff, support staff, and temp/on call staff.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or a field related to the employing unit; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require experience related to the field of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Human Relations, Business Administration, or related field
Experience applying and interpreting human resources policies and procedures
Experience in Strategic Planning
Experience in Employee Relations, Staff Recruitment & Retention
Experience in Performance Analysis/Management, Leadership Development, and Team Building
Strong analytical, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills
Exceptional oral, written, and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgment, tact, and discretion
Ability to partner and build trust with employees, managers, and supervisors at all levels of management from secretary support staff to higher level university administration.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and human resources management systems
Knowledge of EBS and/or other integrated systems that manage HR and Payroll
Demonstrated knowledge of executing DEIB goals in the workplace
