Position Overview
The Temporary Student Financial Services Assistant supports the general reception area of the office and will answer general questions about financial aid and direct appropriate inquiries to other staff. The specific focus of this position is to assist current staff while they are preparing the transition to the Workday platform.

Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities

  • Entering financial aid awards into Colleague
  • Reception and phone duties are shared and include answering questions about applying for aid, documents still required, status of aid awards, work assignments, additional off-campus funding, and loan procedures. Directing calls and e-mails to other staff when appropriate and necessary.
  • Keeps pertinent staff aware of critical work issues that may need to be addressed and resolved.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing of aid awards, including data entry, printing and preparing for mailing.
  • Track documents as received into the financial aid computer system. Follow-up with students who have missing documents when necessary, including postcard and e-mail communications.
  • On behalf of the Director, record and maintain the SFS staff vacation and leave calendar.
  • Other duties as required and appropriate to enhance the success of the SFS Office team.

Required Qualifications

  • 2 years of office experience.
  • Experience with financial aid and higher education
  • Good communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce work accurately, efficiently, and promptly
  • Skills in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Workday

This is a non-exempt level position. The selected finalist’s salary will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal pay structure, and our overall compensation package.
