Location: Baltimore, MD 21224Job Description:Purpose:
Leads multiple cross-functional teams or Agile Release Trains (ARTs), guiding them on Agile, SAFe, Scrum, and Lean values/practices through servant leadership. Fosters a culture of continuous learning and growth, promoting agile maturity through practices, metrics, and SAFe guidelines. Exhibits Lean-Agile Leader behaviors with a Lean-Agile Mindset.Essential Functions:
- 40% Facilitate Team Progress:
- Act as facilitator for teams or Release Train Engineer (RTE) for ART.
- Improve team/ART performance in quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
- Focus on daily and Iteration Goals within the current Program Increment (PI) or Release Objectives.
- Lead team/ART improvements, facilitate retrospectives, and teach problem-solving techniques.
- Facilitate team meetings (Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, etc.) and ART-level meetings (PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to DoD ((Definition of done) and team/ART agreements.
- Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
- 30% Support Communication and Relationships:
- Coordinate work with other teams to improve flow and throughput.
- Represent teams in Scrum of Scrums or run related meetings.
- Enhance program effectiveness and team relationships with User Experience, Architecture, and Shared Services.
- Support Product Owner and Product Management with backlog management and team dynamics.
- 15% Eliminate Impediments:
- Engage stakeholders to address and resolve issues affecting Iteration or PI objectives.
- Assist with communication and transparency improvements.
- 15% Exhibit Lean-Agile Leadership:
- Infuse Lean-Agile behaviors and mindset into the team, leadership, and program.
- Lead initiatives to enhance business agility and drive culture change.
Qualifications:
- Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
- Education Details: Business Administration or related field
- Experience: 8 years in Lean, Agile methodologies, including 3+ years as Scrum Master or Kanban Lead. Proven success in leading Agile teams to maturity and improved outcomes.
- In Lieu of Education: 4 additional years of relevant work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Scrum Master on a SAFe Agile Release Train.
- Experience in leading change, continuous improvement, and value stream mapping.
- Knowledge of Theory of Constraints and Lean techniques.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of Lean Agile values, principles, and practices (Advanced).
- Knowledge of Lean agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) (Expert).
- Knowledge of Scaling frameworks like SAFe (Advanced).
- Accountability for program success (Expert).
- Knowledge of Product Ownership, DevOps, Test Automation practices (Advanced).
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) (Advanced).
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and handle multiple demands (Expert).
- Ability to organize data, create metrics/reports/dashboards (Expert).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and Agile tools (Advanced).
- Ability to drive change, manage conflicts constructively (Advanced).
Licenses/Certifications:
- SAFe Scrum Master Certification (Upon Hire, Preferred)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSP) (Upon Hire, Required)
- Certified SAFe® Release Train Engineer (Preferred)
- Certified Scrum Professional (Preferred)
Additional Requirements:
