Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Solution Architect for the Department of Digital & Data Solutions and Support at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
Under the supervision of the Director, Projects and Solution Delivery, the Solution Architect will join a growing team responsible for guiding our stakeholders through a process of designing solutions based on the concept of leverage (existing tools and capabilities), buy (find a vendor provided solutions to implement), develop (when no other options exist). The Solution Architect will engage with clients in conjunction with the business analyst to design appropriate solutions and lead the delivery/implementation of those solutions. Creating and leading the process of integrating digital and data systems to meet the requirements of the Institute. Conducting system architecture evaluation and collaborating with project management and other digital and data teams to improve the architecture. Evaluating project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform re-engineering if required. Updating stakeholders about any issues connected to the architecture. Analyzing the business impact that individual technical choices may have on a client’s business processes.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Responsible for all aspects of the solution design and delivery life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design, implementation, and support. Includes, performing detailed analysis of available solutions in view of the requirements to optimally leverage existing resources.
  • Establishes standards and best practices requirements gathering and solution development and delivery. Manages a repository clearly defining existing solutions and available resources and capabilities. Supports activities to document, evolve, and communicate artifacts developed using digital technologies and data products.
  • Provides guidance and mentoring to business analysts on solutions development lifecycle including tools, methodology and best practice, and provides support to client community.
  • Helps with digital and data strategy and evangelizes digital and data solutions to foster client adoption (including demos, educational materials, etc.).
  • Stays abreast of the latest digital and data technologies. Participates in the professional forums, meetings, and presentations.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration plus five (5) years of progressive experience as a solution architect.
  • Experience in an academic and/or healthcare environment is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of HIPAA rules and best practices for protecting PHI.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and trends for solutions development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills suitable for service environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in system tuning and trend analysis.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing solutions and integrations for digital and data requirements.
  • Excellent project and resource management skills with risk identification and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult management and engineering teams, with technical advice regarding business analysis, project management, digital architecture, infrastructure, cloud development, and software architecture design.
  • Excellent analytical skills and able to identify the connections between layers of business operations and how business processes achieve their goals, with the ability to define the beneficial solutions and the ones which are inefficient for a particular business need Effective oral and written communication skills Maintaining confidentiality.

  • Experience in an academic and/or healthcare environment.
