Research Fellow in Biostatistics and Epidemiology

• 2 x Full time, 2 year fixed term positions with possibility of extension
• Exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow in Biostatistics and Epidemiology to conduct child health and health services research
• Base salary $113,184 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

The Child Population and Translational Health Research team are seeking a Research Fellow in Biostatistics and Epidemiology to contribute to a funded program of research related to understanding child chronic conditions, including, but not limited to, childhood cancer, congenital heart disease and childhood-onset type 1 diabetes. This position will be based at the Charles Pekins Centre, Camperdown campus.   

Your responsibilities will be to:

• contribute to the analytical design, statistical analysis and reporting of research in peer reviewed publications and presentations
• apply complex statistical methods to analyse linked administrative health, education and clinical data
• collaborate and liaise with a multidisciplinary team of academics, clinicians, policymakers and other stakeholders
• generate reports for stakeholder meetings, contribute to academic papers and other means for dissemination of findings
• contribute to developing grants and funding applications (Category 1-4 funding)
• pursue opportunities for own research related to child health, health services, health policy and health economics research

About you

• postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health or related degree with a strong component in epidemiology and/or biostatistics
• a relevant PhD, or nearing completion of PhD
• experience in epidemiology, health research or health services research, including designing statistical analysis plan, conducting data analysis and reporting results, for peer reviewed publications
• demonstrated experience in data preparation, data management, and analysis of large, population-based linked administrative and clinical datasets
• advanced biostatistical analysis skills, e.g multilevel models, causal inference methods ,machine learning
• ability to work independently- initiate, organise and manage projects; and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills; and presentation skills to a wide range of audiences ​
