Position Summary

The Wang lab seeks a qualified candidate to oversee and coordinate laboratory operations, assist in planning and designing experiments, conduct experiments, and analyze data.

The applicants are required to have experience in animal research and electrophysiology. It is highly desirable, but not required, that the individual have training specifically in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and surgery and mouse behavior. Additional duties will include ordering of supplies and reagents, ensuring compliance of the lab to all environmental and biohazard safety regulations, and training and oversight of students and other lab employees.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in neuroscience, molecular biology, or similar biomedical science; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in electrophysiology and animal research, operating and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment, performing specialized and analytical and research techniques; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.

Desired Qualifications

It is highly desirable but not required that the individual have training specifically in mouse behavioral assays, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and surgery and genotyping, and designing research experiments in neuroscience or molecular biology.
