Job Description:

Proposal management for signature or high-visibility projects and programs. This position will coordinate proposal management like a project, providing coordination across participating colleges and external institutions and collaborators as necessary to ensure the proposal is successful. Aspects of the job include, but are not limited to, qualifying the opportunity, creating and mentoring progress on the timeline, writing a proposal management plan, producing shell documents, collecting proposal material, collaborating with the cognizant research administrators to build the budget, assembling the proposal package, and ensuring that the proposal complies with the sponsor instructions and agency/university regulations.

Coordination of ancillary services for proposal management and sponsor review, e.g., kickoff and recurring meetings, graphic arts, video services, and (reverse) site visits.

Application of university-level research development support and training tools. This position will generate content for a collaboratively editable research development knowledge base that is accessible by grants administrators and investigators (i.e., the “Book of Knowledge”). Provide guidance to users, as required.

Commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in grant and contract administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the entire University structure.

Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing with faculty, staff and various funding sponsors.

Ability to act as liaison and use communication skills with professionals of various contract and grant funding sources.

Ability to evaluate and give technical assistance in the preparation and submission of proposals and to evaluate data relative to proposal submission.

Knowledge of and accountable for all current rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the funding sponsors, the State of Florida, the University of Florida and UF Research.

Ability to work independently and use good judgment to set priorities.

Knowledge and understanding of the University payroll, personnel and accounting structure. . Proposals must be scrutinized to confirm eligibility of the principal investigator, current salary level, specific appointment classification to compute fringe and health insurance.

Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
