Real Estate Associate Director (University Staff Professional 3)

JOB SUMMARY

Working under the direction of the Executive Director of University Planning, Design & Construction the Real Estate Associate Director is accountable for assisting with the day-to-day activities related to real estate management, leasing, acquisition, disposition, space evaluations, and other real estate related matters. This position will provide leadership and technical expertise in a team-oriented environment for the Regional and Development team and as needed to support the mission and vision of the University that enables the transformative learning experience.  The primary focus of this position is to manage, negotiate and review the real estate portfolio of the main and regional campuses of the University. The Associate Director is responsible for all aspects of the assigned portfolio from negotiating terms, drafting term sheets, researching property ownership, conducting cost-benefit analysis while understanding and utilizing Connecticut State Statutory requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in business administration, pre-law or real estate development/management.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in negotiating real estate transactions, such as leases, master leases or purchase & sale agreements, and/or work in real estate development.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Work with higher education organizations or equivalent.
  • Work with state agencies.
  • MBA, Paralegal Certificate or Juris Doctorate (JD).
  • Physical Requirements

    Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, inspect facilities issues near live electrical equipment, rotating machinery, and other mechanical systems and physically negotiate construction work areas and project job sites where the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions, noise, etc. Use of personal protective equipment is required when/where necessary.

    Work Environment

    At times, the employee will work at a construction job site where the employee will be exposed to moving machines, outside weather conditions, noise, etc.

    This is a full-time position located at the Storrs campus.
