The Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education (Melbourne CSHE) is a leading University, national and international Centre for professional development and executive education, research and research training, and engagement in the field of higher education. Melbourne CSHE is part of the Melbourne School of Graduate Education.

About the Role
Working in a fast-paced environment of the Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education, the Program Officer will be required support development and delivery of the breadth of Centre’s programs including postgraduate programs, executive education programs, seminars, conferences and other events. In this busy and diverse role, the incumbent is required to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and initiative while coordinating multiple programs and events simultaneously and regularly interacting with both the external and internal community.

The Program Officer will contribute to the development of the Melbourne CSHE as part of a team of professional staff who support the development and implementation of the suite of research and development programs. The role reports to the Centre’s Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities include:

  • In consultation with academic program leads and the Centre Leadership group, coordinate and support the high quality administrative delivery of the Centre’s programs
  • Develop, implement, and monitor specific communication plans
  • Conduct appropriate data analysis to develop targeted post event communication activities to maintain participant engagement with the Centre

About You

You are highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure and mange competing demands, prioritising your tasks to ensure all deadlines are met and work is completed to a high standard. Your judgement skills allow you to work with autonomy, and your strong interpersonal skills allow you to act as an effective part of a team, working together to achieve quality results. You are skilled in the use of computer-based technology, in particular Microsoft Office, Zoom, and various event management software, and you are able to pick up new applications with ease.

You will also have:

  • A degree with relevant experience, or extensive experience and broad knowledge, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination of complex, high quality events, courses and/or other public programs (online and face-to-face) and providing exceptional customer service to a diverse range of clients.
  • High level interpersonal skills including the ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with both academic and professional colleagues and stakeholders, observing discretion and confidentiality at all times.
