Program Manager – MCS Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity

The Mellon College of Science (MCS) is home to four departments and many programs and research centers that cross disciplines. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our departmental strengths in the core sciences. MCS faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance and neuroscience.

The MCS Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is seeking a full-time Program Manager who will be responsible for leading the development, implementation and monitoring of DEI initiatives and plans within MCS. This role is responsible for developing training and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment partnering with the Vice Provost and DEI and other key stakeholders across campus to work through sensitive diversity issues and build a more equitable and diversity. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the development and management of MCS DEI related program and events.
  • Promotes a diverse, culturally competent and respectful work environment.
  • Develop and facilitate DEI related professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Monitor program development, recruitment, enrollment, timelines, and communication.
  • Compile and prepare periodic reports and surveys.
  • Represent the office of the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at internal and external meetings with stakeholders.
  • Participate on campus and college committees, at community events, meetings, and affiliated activities.
  • Provide support, resources, and referrals to the relevant faculty and staff.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with businesses, organizations, schools, and other community partners.

You should demonstrate:

  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong and effective organizational, communication, computer/technology, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience in education or initiatives related to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Experience advising or mentoring people from marginalized communities.
