Job description

The department of Human-Centered Design at TU Delft is looking for an enthusiastic postdoc to develop tools that can help anticipate the effects of advanced technologies on society, particularly the Ethical, Legal, and Societal Aspects (ELSA) of quantum technologies.

The postdoc will design, develop and validate generative tools to help diverse stakeholders produce future visions for technologies, in particular quantum computing, quantum networks, and quantum sensors. In collaboration with various teams at TU Delft and Quantum Delta Netherlands, the postdoc will:

Validate a “Quantum Impact Assessment” tool, developed by the Centre for Quantum & Society, to help innovation teams assess the possible ELSA impact of an envisioned quantum application;

Create and validate new tools for envisioning future applications of advanced technologies, with a focus on quantum technologies. The tools can range from creative ideation card decks to the applications of AI generative models (e.g., GPT3, DALLE, MidJourney, StabilityAI);

The successful candidate will be expected to work with a team of researchers and will be required to take on a leading role in the development and validation of the tools mentioned above. The position is for a period of two years and is based at the TU Delft campus in Delft, the Netherlands

Requirements

The candidate should have a strong understanding of the validation of measurement tools of this nature in a technological context. We anticipate prior experience in human-centered design and/or design thinking, ideally complemented by knowledge of human-computer interaction, computer science, AI, or related disciplines.

The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scientific output of the department by publishing their work in academic journals and presenting at international conferences.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 24 maanden.
