Post-PhD Research Grants

The Wenner-Gren Foundation awards up to 25 grants for postdoctoral scholars to carry research in anthropology.

Wenner-Gren is a private operating foundation dedicated to the advancement of anthropology throughout the world. Grants are available for basic research in all branches of anthropology. Aid is not provided for tuition. Grantees are expected to submit a final report at the end of the research phase.

Eligibility & Requirements

Dissertation applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD except dissertation, and the applicant must complete their degree by the start date of their proposed project.
Must have an advisor willing to supervise the project.
Should demonstrate a clear link to anthropological theory and debates.
Research project abstract with bibliography.
Answers to five project description questions.
A detailed Plan A budget (for the COVID best case scenario)
A detailed Plan B budget (for the COVID worst case scenario)
CV.
The Foundation particularly welcomes proposals that employ a comparative perspective, can generate innovative approaches or ideas, and/or integrate 2 or more subfields.

Social Sciences. Specifically anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, anthropological linguistics, and related disciplines concerned with humanity’s cultural and biological origins, development, and variation.
