Placement Officer

  • Full time, fixed term or secondment opportunity -14th July 2023. Located on the Camperdown Campus

  • Opportunity to support clinical and non-clinical placements across the Faculty of Science

  • Base Salary $91K – $98K (HEO6) (pro rata) + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

The Faculty of Science is currently seeking a Placement Officer to join a small team responsible for coordinating clinical and non-clinical placements in compliance with University Policies and accreditation requirements within professional programs.

The role is part of the Education team which is responsible for delivery of support for educational quality (including support for student survey results, academic standards), educational innovation, educational design, faculty-based appeals, educational integrity, and, at the school level, support around unit of study administration (e.g. unit of study outlines, in-semester assessment, component marks and results, and interactions with the Inclusion and Disability Team).

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • managing clinical and non-clinical placements

  • student placements support

  • communicating with internal and external stakeholders

  • monitoring and reporting on compliance

  • providing high level administration

  • managing record keeping for placements and work integrated learning

assisting with the day-to-day operational matters and working with the Manager on continuous improvement relating to the SONIA placement management system.

About you

  • a Certificate IV – Business Administration or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

  • administrative and/or student placement experience in a tertiary organisation, working knowledge of academic institutions, structures and the higher education sector

  • strong policy and process orientation including the ability to interpret and apply Faculty, University and NSW Health policies and procedures, modify existing Faculty processes and establish new ones to streamline administration processes and client interfaces

  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of enquiries and an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritise workload during busy periods

  • an understanding of placements within the Sciences would be beneficial.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
