We are seeking a talented and experienced fundraiser to join our dynamic and friendly team. King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) works with health facilities, academic institutions and governments to strengthen health systems and improve the quality of care in Somaliland, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone and Zambia. With some of this work dating back twenty years, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to vital work benefitting patients in some of the world’s most vulnerable contexts.
The postholder will lead the implementation of KGHP’s fundraising strategy with a focus on cultivating and soliciting support from Trusts and Foundations. Embedded within the KGHP team but working with colleagues from across KCL’s Fundraising & Supporter Development department, they will establish the foundations for sustainable future income growth and pipeline development. Responsibilities include identifying and cultivating new prospects; developing engagement plans; leading on the development of funding proposals; and stewardship of existing donors. This role will suit candidates with experience in raising five and six figure gifts from trusts and foundations, and ideally with experience of US-based funders.
This post will be offered on a fixed term contract for 1 year
This is a part-time post – 60% full time equivalent
• Work with the Director of KGHP to implement the KGHP philanthropic fundraising strategy.
• Act as the central point of contact between KGHP and the Fundraising & Supporter Development team (F&SD), developing collaborative relationships that will support fundraising activity.
• Take responsibility for conducting and co-ordinating detailed prospect research on Trusts and Foundations that support our areas of work, liaising with F&SD colleagues on network mapping, and keeping abreast of new opportunities.
• Plan and develop innovative strategies to secure major gifts, building relationships that lead to asks for five and six figure gifts.
• Produce thorough briefings for KGHP colleagues, Board members & senior management prior to meetings with potential donors.
• Update, maintain and regularly review KGHP’s pipeline, prioritising approaches to donors/prospects, and managing the calendar of opportunities. Update and maintain contact records, ensuring that all communication and correspondence is logged accurately and is up to date.
• Write and review funding proposals and presentations, ensuring that KGHP’s work is presented in a compelling way and tailored to funder priorities.
• Provide excellent stewardship to existing funders, supporting the KGHP team to provide high quality reports to donors and to maintain effective communication.
• Build strong relationships with the KGHP partnership teams, building understanding of our approach and specific priorities. Disseminate and present complex & specialised information about KGHP’s work to prospects and internal stakeholders in a clear and compelling way.
• Represent KGHP in internal and external fora where appropriate.

Essential criteria
1. A degree or equivalent
2. Experience of securing large donations from Trusts & Foundations
3. Ability to identify and critically review opportunities for funding and collaboration
4. Experience of developing creative strategies for the engagement of new prospects
5. Skills in developing relationships with grant givers, ensuring outstanding supporter care and stewardship at all times.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Sound financial literacy (understanding of budgets and financial reporting)
8. Proactive approach with the ability to work independently and flexibly, but also as part of a team
9. Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, actively addressing areas of potential bias.
Desirable criteria
10. Experience of fundraising in the international development/global health sector
11. Understanding/experience of the US funding landscape
12. Knowledge of trends and philanthropic motivations in global health
