Job description

The Department of Management in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Antwerp, and the Department of Marketing, Innovation and Organization at Ghent University are looking for a full-time (100%) doctoral scholarship holder in the field of Student-Entrepreneurship.

Position

• You will work actively on the preparation and defense of a PhD thesis in the field of student-entrepreneurship. At least 90% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation.
• You will publish scientific articles related to the research project.
• You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the department of Management (FBE, UAntwerp) and the department of Marketing, Innovation and Organization (FEB, UGhent). Teaching support mainly focuses on master thesis supervision, master thesis assessor, exam supervision, etc.

• You can demonstrate excellent study results.
• Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies of both the University of Antwerp and Ghent University.
• You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
• You are fluent in English (both written and oral).
• Fluency in Dutch is a plus-point.
• You have experience with/have interest in entrepreneurship, in practice and/or theory.
• You are able and willing to be the driving force in collaborating with various external stakeholders in the student-entrepreneurship domain in Flanders, Belgium, and are willing and able to reach out to foreign best-practice examples.

What we offer

• We offer a doctoral scholarship for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal after positive evaluation, and on the condition of the availability of additional funding (the latter will depend upon the selected candidate’s output on the project). In total, the scholarship holder can receive funding for maximum four years.
• The planned start date is January 1st, 2023 or as soon as possible after that date.
• Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
• You will receive ecocheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
• You will do most of your work at the City Campus (UAntwerpen), or at the Tweekerken Campus (UGhent), in a dynamic and stimulating working environment. The exact working place will be determined in agreement with the selected candidate.
