PhD Position / Research Associate in Augmented Reality (f/m/d) in the research project CO-HUMANICS

The Virtual Worlds and Digital Games Lab at Ilmenau University of Technology, Germany offers a fully funded PhD / Research Associate position in Collaborative Augmented Reality starting as soon as possible.

The position is part of the CO-HUMANICS project funded by the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung. The goal of this project is the realization of a collaborative AR environment enabling co-presence for visiting and assisting seniors in their home. Project goals include the ability to easily create lifelike virtual representations of remote participants as well as a seamless and interactive integration of those virtual visitors into the local environment.

The person we are looking for will work on on the creation and realization of believable avatars. You will enable users to easily create their personal, lifelike avatars that can seamlessly integrate into the remote environment and interact with other remote and local users.

You should have solid programming skills, preferably with Python and C#, knowledge of 3D game engines, especially Unity, experience with Deep Learning, ideally with pytorch and/or tensorflow. In addition, experience in the creation of avatars for VR/AR, in the realization of AR applications and in the use of AR glasses is an advantage.
