Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

(Ph.D. candidate)

to start at the earliest convenience.

This is a 66% full-time equivalent position, based on a fixed-term contract valid for a period of 3 years. Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade E13 of the German public-sector collective agreement, TV-L; salary step dependent on qualifications and experience.

Your project and responsibilities

  • Elucidation of microbial ligands in aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling in chronic kidney disease and multiple sclerosis
  • Identification and quantitation of relevant ligands by NMR spectroscopy as well as direct-infusion, hyphenated and imaging mass spectrometry
  • Detailed investigation of selected metabolic pathways using stable isotope-tracing experiments

What we seek

  • A highly motivated graduate student with an excellent master’s, diploma or comparable university degree in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry or biophysics.
  • Sound knowledge of instrumental analysis and statistics.
  • Preferentially, prior hands-on experience in mass spectrometry and/or NMR spectroscopy.
  • Willingness to conduct interdisciplinary research as a member of a large collaborative research project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
  • Very good spoken and written English language skills. Knowledge of German would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
