The University of Virginia School of Engineering & Applied Science seeks a versatile, experienced storyteller to produce video, audio, photo and written content for our website and social media channels, as a member of a dynamic communications team that showcases our school’s world-class research and education programs. The stories we seek to tell are not ordinary. Our best stories show how our faculty and students are making the world a better place for humanity – discovering cures for deadly diseases, designing new generations of technology, and contributing to a more sustainable, just society. The multimedia producer will report to the UVA Engineering executive director of communications and collaborate with other communications team members, faculty, staff and students to tell UVA Engineering’s most compelling stories – aligned with our mission, vision and core values – using the most effective media.
The UVA Engineering multimedia producer will be responsible for the full range of creative storytelling tasks and responsibilities, including:
The multimedia producer also will serve as a creative leader on the communications team, working closely with our in-house and external graphic designers and providing input and tips or training to other team members on basic skills such as taking good cell phone photos for social media. Critical to this job will be staying current on creative skills and best practices.

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Three years experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Although we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations to all employees, this role will require frequent movement as well as sitting/standing with and carrying video and photo equipment in the 20-pound range. The position will require extensive use of desktop and laptop computers. The job also requires attending interviews, meetings and programs.
LOCATION
This position is located at UVA Engineering in Charlottesville, VA, however some hybrid work may be considered based upon the needs of the school and the performance of the person in the position.
