Licensed Practical Nurse

Your Opportunity:

The town of Peace River is nestled in the beautiful Peace River valley and is the cultural and economic hub of the Peace Region of northwestern Alberta. The town population is about 6000 with a surrounding catchment of 10,000. Peace River offers great education, and the residents enjoy a wide range of indoor and outdoor recreational activities including golfing, hockey, camping skiing and swimming. Come join our team in a dynamic rural facility. You will be working closely with physicians and members of a multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients while following AHS values. You will be responsible for caring for patients from newborn to seniors with a variety of medical, surgical, and obstetrical opportunities. This acute department provides care to stroke, cardiac and trauma events within the area. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Temporary accommodations and relocation may be considered.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Mandatory education will be paid for and recommended education, applicable to the position, will be reimbursed. Education required /provided: ACLS, NRP.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience may be preferred.
