Pay Grade/Pay Range: 55 Hourly (non-exempt) – Minimum – $ 12.88 Midpoint – $ 18.81

Normal Work Schedule: Tuesday – Friday 7:15am – 4:00pm and Saturday 10:45am -7:00pm

Job Summary: The Public Services Assistant is responsible for the management of reserves ensuring materials (print and electronic) are available for student coursework.

Additional Department Summary: Position assists with training and oversight of student employees. Position manages special events in the branch, as well as assists with calendaring and preparation of spaces for instructional workshops. Position is responsible for gathering and reporting assessment data related to library operations. This position participates in the provision of public information services, both in-person and via chat service. This position will also assist with the provision of point-of-need support related to Research Data Services (RDS). This position is associated with some circulation and collection management responsibilities, including occasional processing for new materials, withdrawing materials, updating/correcting records in the online catalog and placing equipment on Reserve for the branch. Position will provide support for Inter-Library Loan and Document Delivery Service requests as needed. This position also serves as backup for the Assistant Manager, monitoring student assistants and also serves as the backup for circulation issues and problems. Staff positions in the University Libraries can be moved to different library buildings on campus based on needs assessments.

Special duties specific to this Branch include:

The position typically works Tuesday-Saturday, but hours may be adjusted as library opening hours change. Also may be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends, depending on staff coverage. Position has backup responsibility for Inter-Library Loan and Document Delivery Service by filling requests. Position serves as the sole staff member responsible for Saturday supervision in all three Branch Libraries: Bruno, Rodgers, and McLure. Position opens Bruno Tuesday-Friday and opens Rodgers on Saturdays. Position is responsible for Bruno Course Reserves and assisting instructors with placing materials in Blackboard.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and some experience; OR Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience; OR High School and three (3) years of experience.
