Overview

WAAPA is an internationally renowned arts institution within Edith Cowan University. Alumni from the music courses are found in a multitude of roles within the international music industry, from performers to composers, songwriters, producers and artistic curators. The Role

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and inspirational string and orchestral studies lecturers and performers to lead the ongoing development of the classical string and orchestral program at WAAPA. Joining WAAPA as an ongoing lecturer, the successful applicant/s will deliver high quality academic and technical guidance to our string and orchestral students, contribute to the teaching and learning outcomes across the music discipline, and work as an integral part of the WAAPA Music team. 

The key responsibilities of the position include:

• Inspiring students through the delivery of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, individual lessons and studio sessions to VET, HE and HD students
• Engaging with the orchestral program at WAAPA Music
• Preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars, including the production of teaching materials
• Marking, assessment and consultation with students
• Unit coordination
• Recruitment activities
• Engaging with university software and systems

Selection Criteria:

• PhD, Masters degree, or equivalent industry experience in the field
• Ability to coordinate, develop and teach units at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
• Commitment to and demonstrated achievement of excellence in teaching
• Ability to engage with community and industry to enhance teaching and learning within the department
• Demonstrated performance ability, and portfolio of recordings or other creative original works
• VET qualifications will need to be attained prior to commencement (CERT IV TAE)
• Recruitment strategies to enhance the program

Benefits & Remuneration
This role is being offered as a full-time ongoing position, with part-time and job-share arrangements also being considered. Multiple positions may be offered should fractional appointments suit the preferred candidates. The position attracts a remuneration of $105,832 to $125,043 (pro-rata for part-time) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
