The School of Psychology & Computer Science seek to appoint a Lecturer in Psychology to consolidate teaching and research strengths. The post-holder will contribute to teaching, assessment, and project supervision on the School’s MSc Psychology Conversion programme.
The School of Psychology & Computer Science is one of three schools in the Faculty of Science & Technology and is located in the purpose-built Darwin Building. The School is well resourced, with an extensive range of state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment, including a Neuroscience Suite, a Child Observation Suite, an adult-focused Brain Imaging Laboratory, a child-focused Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, and eye-tracking laboratories. Our key neuroscience facilities include EEG/ERP, TMS, tDCS, fNIRS and fTCD. A new Mobile Research Unit for research and knowledge transfer in the community will be available from 2022. The School has a thriving community of PhD and MSc students and has strong links with international universities, NHS hospital trusts, schools and community groups.
We are looking to appoint an individual who has research expertise aligned with the strengths of the School in the area of Perception, Cognition and Neuroscience or Forensic Psychology and Criminal Justice. The successful candidate will make an important contribution to teaching on our MSc Psychology Conversion programme, this will include module leadership, teaching, assessment, and project supervision. An ability to teach in key areas of the BPS curriculum for Psychology conversion courses is important for this role.
Essential criteria for the post in terms of qualifications, experience and skills include having a good honours degree in Psychology and PhD or equivalent in Psychology as well as having experience of undergraduate or postgraduate teaching/lecturing and assessment experience, a good track record of peer-reviewed publications in a relevant area of Psychology and a commitment to real-world research impact and innovation.
Excellent communication and presentation skills as well as good planning, organisation and collaboration skills are core requirements for this position. The successful applicant will have a commitment to participating in student recruitment activities, the ability to teach and supervise dissertations up to Masters level and strong initiative and team working skills.
