The Special Education area in the Department of Education and Human Development at Clemson University is recruiting for a Lecturer in Academic Intensive Interventions, non-tenure track, nine-month position, beginning Fall 2023.

Position Responsibilities

The Lecturer in Academic Intensive Interventions will be responsible for teaching on-campus undergraduate special education coursework related to academic content, early intervention, disability characteristics, service delivery, and collaboration with families and parents with potential for teaching graduate-level courses in the future. The successful candidate may serve as a liaison with field experiences and student teaching, including a capstone course. Some course sections may be offered online and in synchronous and asynchronous modalities, so preference will be given to an applicant with experience teaching in online and/or hybrid formats. The successful candidate will also participate in service to the department, college, and field.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

A successful applicant has:

  • A doctorate (or ABD) in special education or a related field
  • At least 2 years of PK-12 teaching experience in special education or a related field in U.S. schools

Preferred Qualifications

  • College teaching experience
  • Knowledge and experience in integrating instructional and assistive technology in classroom and online settings
  • Evidence of ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Evidence of a commitment to equity conscious teaching and advising, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to situate knowledge in their field in a social (cultural, historical) context.
