Lead Research Protocol Analyst (IRB)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Functions as a team leader, facilitator, or project manager in research compliance activities involving human or research animal subjects.
  • Develops goals and objectives, creates an organizational culture within team and department and develops and implements effective CQI tools and methods.
  • Proficiently coordinates and supervises other team member’s performance for all activities, before, during, and after Committee meetings.
  • Identifies, coordinates, and evaluates need for compliance reviews.
  • Interprets findings, develops recommendations, and assures appropriate follow-up.
  • Notifies compliance team as appropriate.
  • Informs Director and/or Assistant Director of potential compliance issues/concerns.
  • Develops goals and objectives for the department based on interpretation of institutional and regulatory policies and goals.
  • Creates an organizational culture within the team and department and across the research community that provides a safe, supporting, and enriching environment.
  • Identifies, establishes, and evaluates Quality Improvement (QI) standards, programs, and procedures within the department.
  • Actively identifies and participates in educational and developmental activities to improve knowledge and performance to sustain and enhance personal and departmental development.
  • Keeps abreast of and applies regulatory guidelines and institutional/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Stays up to date with federal regulations and guidance in a timely manner.
  • Synthesizes new regulations and guidance and incorporates into existing policies and procedures.
  • Designs, develops, and revises standards, utilizing community and national standards, research findings, and bench marking data, e.g. budgets, guidance documents, determination letters, etc. Serves as a role model, mentor and consultant across teams to provide expertise and shares knowledge.
  • Independently collaborates across the research community to facilitate intra and interdepartmental communication regarding regulatory/guidance documents and departmental policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and five years of experience in health care, research, or regulatory positions.
  • Experience in other positions utilizing basic analytic skills will also be considered (e.g., behavioral/social science, education, business, math, engineering or criminology).
  • Previous management, IRB, and/or IACUC experience strongly preferred.
  • Required to complete applicable training programs at time of hire (e.g. CITI or AALAS).
  • May be required to complete other certification and/or credentialing programs within first two years of hire.
