Position Overview
Applications are now being accepted for a full-time Program Manager for the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival and the Auditorium Chamber Music Series (ACMS) at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, ID. This position will have the responsibility for the operations, organization, success, growth, and sustainability of these two programs. This position will also have the responsibility of ensuring these programs are fiscally responsible and properly staffed. The incumbent will promote vision and strategic initiatives for these programs including developing comprehensive strategic plans, building, and maintaining relationships, and implementing goals. This position will provide business and fiscal management through planning, organizing, and directing financial functions including budgeting, payroll, and purchasing. This position will also supervise and direct staff to ensure a cohesive and effective business unit.
Unit Overview
The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is a highly acclaimed festival providing adjudicated jazz competition for students from elementary to college age and world-class evening concerts. The Auditorium Chamber Music Series (ACMS) brings world-class chamber musicians to campus four times annually for evening performances and educational outreach. The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences is committed to equity and inclusion. Key Accountability
Promote Vision and Strategic Initiatives for Jazz Festival/ACMS by:
Job Duties
Collaborating with the LHJF Artistic and Educational Advisors, ACMS Director and Board, LHSOM Director, and other staff members to develop a clear vision and strategic plan to guide the quality and sustainability of these programs;
Collaborating with the Advancement Office to develop and implement strategic plans to increase program funding and resources; develop relationships with current and prospective donors; and coordinate fundraising activities and corporate sponsorship;
Providing oversight and leadership for all marketing activities including developing strategic marketing and internal/external communication plans;
Developing and implementing integrated communication plans, strategies, and creative solutions for internal and external communication challenges;
Directing the promotion of the visibility and public image for the LHJF and ACMS
Managing staff to ensure on-time delivery of all activities, both entertainment and educational;
Establishing and maintaining working relationships with the Lionel Hampton School of Music and other University entities;
Collaborating with external stakeholders, friends, and supporters of the programs.

Provide Business and Financial Management Leadership:
Job Duties
Planning, organizing and directing financial functions including fiscal management, reporting, budgeting, payroll, and purchasing;
Preparing, reviewing, analyzing, and administering the annual operating budget to ensure a balanced and sustainable budget;
Measuring historical and industry trends for quality of service and financial indicators using critical success factors and industry benchmarking;
Researching, developing, and assessing policies and procedures to increase effectiveness and making recommendations to improve business practices;
Allocating funds to expenditures, and overseeing salary savings accumulations, commitments and expenditures;
Balancing budgets for fiscal year-end closing and ensuring accuracy;
Overseeing and maintaining accounting activities needed to ensure accurate records of income and expenses .
Key Accountability
Supervise Artist Relations and Programs by:
Job Duties
Handling all artist logistics including communications with agents/managers/artists, discussing expected duties, assisting with negotiations. This includes clinic content and materials, press materials, interviews, travel, personal schedule, contract, rider and stipend following up with agents/managers/artists on all booking details and logistics associated with contract negotiations.
Supervising daily schedules and problem solving issues related to artists/educators and special guests
Supervising the organization of programs including concerts, student performances, educational programs and clinics/workshops as directed.
Overseeing development and implementation of program production and logistics plan, including equipment, transportation, security, catering and other elements.
Overseeing the recruitment and training of Artist Relations, Student Performance Equipment Team (SPEC) and production temporary employees (including student interns, teaching assistants, and work-study).

Manage Personnel by:
Job Duties
Ensuring effective and accountable processes are in place for all human resources;
Managing all personnel issues including conflict resolution;
Providing mentorship and motivation to all staff to ensure quality programs;
Planning, facilitating, and conducting personnel meetings to review progress and discuss necessary agenda items;
Directing and supervising event personnel to maintain a cohesive and effective business unit;
Developing strategies and maintaining procedures for recruitment, retention and evaluation of staff;
Directing, managing, and supervising the work of employees within the unit to ensure effectiveness;
Providing leadership and oversight of all volunteer activities to ensure safety and quality;
Evaluating all staff, including volunteers in a fair and timely manner;
Promoting teamwork and cooperation.

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
Experience with:

Knowledge of:
Management and organizational skills;
Computer applications for word processing, email, spreadsheet development, and data organization;
Must possess:

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3+ years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI driving requirements
Travel and working non standard business hours as needed.
Additional Preferred
Master’s Degree in related field;
Experience administrating/managing a major music festival;
Knowledge of Jazz as an art form;
Experience working in a University setting;
Experience with fundraising for a major program and/or event;
Motivate and manage individuals for maximum performance.
