Manulife’s Individual Underwriting team is looking for high-energy, passionate, customer-obsessed and creative individuals for our affinity clients. The Individual Life Underwriter has the privilege of working with varied distribution channels including National Accounts, MGA’s and Advisors. As a Manulife Underwriter, you will grow your skills and career through our best-in-class onboarding experience, ongoing learning opportunities and individual development planning.

Responsibilities

  • Select & classify risks according to Manulife’s philosophy and standards

  • Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with all internal & external clients

  • Compliance with all legislation and consumer regulations as they apply to risk classification, privacy and disclosure

  • Identify and provide solutions to work-related problems and procedures

  • Ensure team goals are met at all times and promote an atmosphere of confidence and trust with all customers in order to facilitate acceptance of decisions

You will be a dynamic, positive, customer service focused and creative individual in your work. You will also need to have an aptitude and demonstrated ability to think outside of the box to provide “solutions” and identify opportunities to exceed in your craft.

What we are looking for

  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminologies, diseases, tests, treatment modes, medication and their application

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a healthcare program or equivalent work experience.

  • Bilingual in English/French is an asset

  • Demonstrated professional experience as a Life Underwriter

  • Experience and signing authority on cases of at least $500,000.

  • Sound knowledge of non-medical risk

  • Exemplary customer service skills and excellent oral & written communication skills

  • Ability to comprehend, retain and apply current technical information to daily work issues

  • Knowledge of systems dealing with insurance applications, and new business processes along with general PC skills (Word, Excel, Internet)

  • Currently enrolled in LOMA and/or ALU courses or other insurance-related courses

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

CAN, Ontario – Full Time Remote

Salary range is expected to be between

$56,400.00 CAD – $94,000.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
