The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy & Immunology has an opening for a full-time Instructor.

Nature of Work

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy & Immunology, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to provide oversight and medical management of children with allergic and immunologic diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and to participate in the education of students and residents in accordance with the mission of the University of Colorado School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics.

Examples of Work Performed

– Provide oversight and care of patients with asthma, food allergy, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, animal dander sensitivity, insect sting allergy, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, eosinophilic GI disease and immunodeficiencies in inpatient and outpatient settings.

-Serve in the Challenge and Research Unit by providing oversight and monitoring both clinical and research patients with food challenges, drug challenges, and allergen immunotherapy.

– Participate in the teaching of fellows and residents assigned to the clinic and service rotations

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $95,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

• Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (C-PNP), Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (C-FNP), Certified Nurse Practitioner (C-NP), Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C), or comparable
• Licensure in the State of Colorado
• Prescriptive authority or eligible for certification

Conditions of Employment:

• Must successfully pass a drug test through Children’s Hospital Colorado.
• Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Examples include, but are not limited to, performing comprehensive examinations, ordering medications, communicating effectively with consulting services and the ability to educate others.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with patients with food challenges.
• Prior experience in performing drug challenges
• Prior experience in prescribing and administering subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy
• Prior experience in the evaluation and management of patients with primary and secondary immune disorders
• Prior experience in teaching medical students and residents
