Industry Events Coordinator


Overview:

  • Full Time, Continuing Position 

  • Salary Level HEW 7 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements 

  • Based at the City or Bundoora campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.    

 

About the Position 
The Industry Events Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and leading strategic and key Industry and Student Engagement events within the STEM College and University. This will include liaison with industry partners, logistical support of events, regular reporting and maintenance of databases.   

   

The Industry Events Coordinator will also contribute to continuous improvement within the team and foster a collaborative team culture, proactively supporting team members in busier periods and acting as a first point of contact for administrative queries.   

   

This role may occasionally be required to work non-standard hours and leave restrictions may apply during peak periods.  

 

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Be accountable for your own actions and workload to positively influence the team culture and consistently demonstrate RMIT’s values.  

  • Lead the development of industry events in the STEM College in collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Develop, manage and evaluate industry engagement events, either in-person or hybrid, that represent RMIT University in an outstanding light to VIPs internally and externally such as Government.  

  • Contribute to Industry marketing and recruitment activities including the production of marketing collateral  

  • Manage communications in relation to Industry engagement events and activities   

  • Work collaboratively with other teams to develop and improve processes that are consistently implemented with a focus on evaluation and continual improvement 

  • Provide direction to and enlist support from school representatives within the college as well as other key internal stakeholders to RMIT contributing to industry focussed events

  • Undertake and produce accurate risk assessments of Industry events and manage strategies to mitigate risks. For key stakeholders and attendees ensuring a high-quality event 

  • Assist other teams in the events space of the STEM College and their respective programs including open day, orientation and student prize ceremonies  

 

To be successful in this position, you’ll have: 

  • Demonstrated high level communication, relationship building and negotiation skills with the ability to work collegiately with academic and professional staff, students, and external clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.     

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a demanding high-volume environment with excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance and process improvement.   

  • Demonstrated end-to-end high level project planning and management skills as demonstrated by the successful delivery of major events including planning, budgeting, resource management and evaluation procedures.  

  • Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills, including the ability to think creatively and exercise judgement in a dynamic environment   

  • Ability to conceptualise and design assets that are brand compliant. 

  • Commitment to quality service delivery and sensitivity regarding confidential communications.   

  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in computer software packages including O365, Adobe Creative Cloud and electronic direct mailing services with accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to learn new technical skills. 

Please Note: This position involves the use of a company pool car on occasion, for the purpose of travelling to and from events. 

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check. 

About the STEM College Office Professional Staff

 

The STEM College Office Professional staff provide exceptional and efficient support to the College.   

  

The Learning, Teaching and Quality teams support:   

  • Quality Enhancement   

  • Learning and Teaching support   

  

The Professional shared services Group delivers service to all four School across five distinct functions:   

  • Student Lifecycle   

  • Planning & Operations   

  • Technical Services 

  • Program & Governance   

  • WIL & Engagement   

 

Relevant digital solutions – such as Workday – are used by the five teams to streamline processes and drive operational efficiencies. The Group’s end-to-end professional support ensures a consistent approach to the operational and strategic functioning of the College and adherence to University policies and procedures.   

  

The STEM College Office professional staff are instrumental in providing students with a transformative and enriched learning experience, and in supporting our research and engagement administration activities. Centralised in the STEM College Office, at our City and Bundoora campuses, professional staff members have opportunities to cross-skill, engage in professional development and develop their own career paths.
