The BIONANOSURF group, a multidisciplinary team of chemists, biotechnologists and physicists working on biomedical applications of nanoparticles, is looking foran experienced researcher (N1 salary scale) with a background in Biology/Biochemistry, Nanotechnology or Material Sciences.

The successful candidate will work in the frame of the European project TBMED – A testing bed for the development of high-risk medical devices (https://tbmed.eu ) on the use of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) for magnetic hyperthermia cancer treatment. Main tasks include:

– Synthesis and physicochemical characterisation of magnetic nanoparticles using microwave reactors.

– Magnetic characterisation of nanoparticles (magnetometry, electron microscopy, etc.) and properties relevant to biomedical applications (SAR).

– Evaluation of the interaction of nanoparticles with cellular systems. Studies of colloidal stability and biodistribution of magnetic nanoparticles.

– Studies of magnetic hyperthermia in vitro (two- and three-dimensional cell cultures) and in vivo (murine models of pancreatic cancer) and analysis of their effect (viability, mechanisms of cell death, etc.)

– Writing of scientific reports, bibliographic searches, presentations for consortium meetings, etc.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

• A PhD degree (preferably Nanotechnology, Biology or Biochemistry)

• A MSc in Biology or Biochemistry

• The selected candidate must have a certificate for conducting animal research (Function D, Design of projects and procedures)

• Proven experience in the field of magnetic hyperthermia (publications, participation in research projects)

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English (> B2)

• Specific expertise in:

1) Cell culture techniques. Previous work with pancreatic cancer cell lines will be a plus.

2) Biological models to study cancer (three-dimensional cell cultures, PDX models, preclinical murine models).

3) Cytotoxicity and biodistribution of magnetic nanoparticles.

4) Magnetic hyperthermia in vitro and in vivo.

5) Analysis of cell death mechanisms in the context of magnetic hyperthermia.

A detailed description of the call and application instructions are provided in Spanish, see https://ae.unizar.es/?app=touz&opcion=mostrar&id=49969
