ERP Research Technician

Position Summary

You will administer electroencephalography (EEG) on study participants in order to measure evoked-response potentials (ERPs) for several specific study tasks. This includes set-up/clean-up, installation of 128-channel net, ensuring adequate impedance of the electrodes, running the recording software, administering study tasks, and ensuring the quality of recorded data.

Duties

• Be familiar with the clinical research study which will include an in depth review of the protocol and source materials.
• Administer electroencephalography (EEG) on study participants. Study participants will be individuals with intellectual disability ranging in age from 6-35, and will typically require extra care, patience, and comforting during testing.
• Rigorous documentation of all necessary information about the participant visit, as well as storing this information in a database.
• Gathering data files and storing them on a project server, as well as sending them to collaborators for analysis.
• Keep patient data/information confidential.
• Assist other members of the research team with other study tasks as needed, following proper standard operating procedure (SOP).

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience administering EEG using a net-based system.
• Experience with children/young adults with intellectual disability.
• Background in science with a degree in a related field.
• Ability to identify the most pressing matters and work efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong record keeping and following of protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetStation or E-Prime is an asset.
• Experience with REDCap is an asset.
• Good Clinical Practice Division 5 Training is an asset (training will be provided if necessary).
• UofA and/or AHS privacy training is an asset (training will be provided if necessary).
