| Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program) | Founded over 60 years ago in the belief that Milwaukee would need a great public university to become a great city, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) has a dual research and access mission aimed at serving the diverse needs of Wisconsin’s largest metropolitan area by furthering opportunities at all levels for students who may be financially or educationally disadvantaged. More than one-third of its students are the first in their families to attend college, and 30 percent are students of color. In all, the university educates more than 24,000 students on its three campuses. It is the largest educator of veterans in Wisconsin, with more than 1,000 enrolled each year under the federal G.I. bill. The Children’s Learning Center at UWM is located on campus and provides excellent care and education for children ages 6 weeks through 13 years of age. The Center has been serving the university community for 50 years and offers both flexible and full-time scheduling options to UWM student, faculty/staff, and alumni families. The UWM Children’s Learning Center is licensed by the State of Wisconsin and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The UWM Children’s Center is dedicated to integrating diversity and family support programs along with coordinating ways to ensure innovative approaches to early education. The Center is seeking eager, self-motivated teachers to join in our vision for our work to include all children as capable learners, all teachers and families as full partners and quality programs for children as integral to the success of all communities. The University of Wisconsin (UW) System offers a comprehensive benefits package to meet the diverse needs of our community. The University contributes towards the cost of several benefit plans. | Job Summary | The Children’s Learning Center is looking for multiple teachers across various age groups ranging from the Infant to the School Age programs. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for curriculum, staff performance, environment and communication in a year-round, full-day classroom. The position is responsible for understanding and communicating the needs of children and their families, and the interrelationship between these needs and the Center. Teachers must maintain in-service and continuing education requirements as mandated by state licensing and accreditation. |
