| Job Summary | Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Diversity & Inclusion Manager position will serve as the director of the federally- funded Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Program). The McNair Program Manager also serves as principal or co-principal investigator (PI or co-PI) of existing and future grants. This role is responsible for all aspects of the program, including program design and implementation, strategic planning and assessment, scholar recruitment and support, staff supervision and development, budget management, grant preparation (on a five-year cycle), and data collection and records management. The design and delivery of services should ensure enrollment and graduate school readiness of students who are first-generation, low-income, and those from groups historically underrepresented in graduate education. This requires the McNair Program Manager to cultivate a network of faculty mentors and graduate school representatives. In relation to management and oversight, this position is responsible for the submission of all federal and institutional reports. At the institutional level, the McNair Program Manager’s involvement with campus-wide committees keeps the campus community informed of program outcomes. This position will require the capacity to travel (air/land) day, overnight, and/or weekends as required by the program’s function. |
| Minimum Qualifications | Minimum Qualifications • Master’s degree in higher education administration, student development, counseling, social work or a related field; • Two years of experience in either higher education administration, teaching or an academic support capacity, to include budget management, program development and evaluation, and reporting and compliance with federal regulations; • Minimum of two years of experience with staff supervision; • Knowledge of TRIO or other higher education academic programs and support services and effective practices supporting student recruitment, retention, and development; • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and program partners/allies; • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills; • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education |
| Preferred Qualifications | Preferred Qualifications • Doctoral Degree (any area of study); • Five years of prior experience in TRIO Programs with emphasis in the McNair Program; • Demonstrated experience providing academic programs and support services to include scholarly advisement, engagement, and graduate school/career counseling for the target population; and • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team and the ability to make complex decisions with a high level of initiative and judgment in a variety of situations. |
