Development Coordinator – Indigenous Higher Degree by Research (HDR)

  • Level 7-8, full-time appointment on a three-year fixed term basis
  • Base salary range: $92,679 – $112,981 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team
The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Education (PVCIE) is responsible for leading the University of Western Australia’s Indigenous Education Strategy which encompasses all areas of the University’s activities. The PVCIE provides strategic leadership of the School of Indigenous Studies and is responsible for the operations and strategic developments of the Berndt Museum, and the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health. Through these entities the office has responsibility to deliver multi-disciplinary teaching and research programs and provide specialised support and services to current and future Indigenous students.

About the opportunity
Reporting to the Pro Vice Chancellor Indigenous Education, you will coordinate the development of policy, strategy, recruitment and specialised support and services for Indigenous Higher Degree by Research students at UWA across all Schools. You will also have responsibility to provide relevant training and guidance HDR supervisors; and will work across the university to establish strong partnerships with Schools to maximise Indigenous access and success in higher degree by research courses.

About you
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate a relevant (tertiary) qualification, a well-developed understanding of the Australian Higher Education sector and the issues and challenges facing Indigenous HDR students. You will also demonstrate the ability to work effectively with Indigenous people, in particular, with Indigenous HDR students. In addition, you will demonstrate a well-developed understanding of Indigenous research protocols and methodologies.
