Job Duties The Content Manager will:
– Assist with the development and creative process for, editing of, and production of all Athletics collateral printed promotional materials and publications (i.e. schedule posters, schedule cards, magnets, postcards) associated with the promotional (sales) strategies targeting external audiences established in support of East Carolina’s 20 varsity athletic teams.
– Coordinate with vendors for printing/publication services as appropriate per project based on efficiency and cost effectiveness while maintaining established standards of quality.
– Develop and manage production schedule including careful attention to specifications and set deadlines.
– Work with colleagues within department to understand their needs and to develop concept and specifications for projects in support of colleague’s assigned sports.
– Create graphically designed images in support of department’s digital (e.g. website, electronic marquee and campus LCD screens) and social media efforts.
– Modify designs quickly to accommodate edits.
– Work within established ECU Athletics visual identity and graphic design standards for all projects – Creation of intro videos for specific sports
– Work closely with assigned programs
– Assigned sports may vary/change.
– Assist the Pirate Club with social media creation/distribution.
– Assist with the management of annual print & digital advertising contracts and schedules established with various media partners across a variety of mediums.
– Manage advertising inventory to create effective strategies that maximize exposure for Athletics and its sports program.
– Provide advertising content for internal publications and campus outlets
– Assist with the creation and distribution of advertisements to media partners across all platforms including print, outdoor and digital based on schedules established by this position.
– Edit design and/or copy for style, consistency, and grammar to fit various platforms and layouts.
– Create templates for electronic correspondence sent from athletics to various constituents
– Communicate and work collaboratively with PlayFly, athletic media relations, licensing, facilities, and video services personnel regarding initiatives that require graphic design needs.
– Build quality relationships and work collaboratively and professionally with athletics staff, Pirate Club employees, and University staff and students, and all constituents and stakeholders.
– Serve as a brand manager and resource to ensure consistency and standards in graphic identity.
– Interact professionally and effectively with co-workers, vendors and advertising partners on all levels, including face-to-face, phone and electronic communications.
– Abide by all written policies and procedures of ECU, the Department of Athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and all applicable conferences or associations.
– Think independently, interpret, and communicate guidelines, policies, etc. for the appropriate application to various questions and situations
– Perform other duties as assigned
– Oversee and manage part-time student staff, specifically in the areas for graphic design and social media
Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education – Experience in commercial design, art, marketing, graphic design, sports or related field
– Expert level experience in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Illustrator and InDesign and working knowledge of Dreamweaver, and After Effects
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
– Proven ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines
– Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly communicate project goals to all members of the external division
– Knowledge of usage and best practices for consumer related products (marketing collateral, websites, TV commercials, digital signage)
