BI Data Analyst

Please note this post is fixed-term for three years.

We are looking for an experienced data analyst to join our small team of analysts and statisticians working with Oxford’s student data. We design, deliver and maintain a portfolio of data analysis and reporting for colleagues across the collegiate university, as well as for public consumption and to meet external reporting requirements.

As a BI Data Analyst, you would be expected to lead on delivery of a subset of this portfolio – both maintaining and enhancing existing reporting, and working with stakeholders across the university to design and deliver new projects from scratch – and also to collaborate with others in the team to ensure a high-quality service across our whole portfolio.

We are looking for candidates with strong data management and data analysis skills, experience with data visualisation and a good understanding of quality assurance and data protection requirements. You will need to be an effective and agile communicator, confident in engaging in technical discussion with IT and systems colleagues on the one hand, and happy to talk data with non-expert colleagues across the university, understanding their requirements and presenting your work clearly and accessibly.

Examples of the type of work you might be expected to undertake include public-facing student and examination statistics, operational reporting on students through SITS e:Vision, internal Tableau/Power BI dashboards surfacing management information and equality and diversity monitoring data, and production of ad hoc data analysis to a tight timetable to fulfil FOI requests or provide insight to the senior management team.

Experience working with higher education data (and particularly with SITS) would be helpful, but we are more interested in your technical expertise, and ability to think creatively and to manage competing projects and stakeholder relationships effectively.

We offer you:

– an opportunity to work with a friendly, talented and collaborative team within Student Registry and across the University

– potential for career progression in higher education (HE) professional services

– a wide range of staff benefits including generous maternity leave, child care service, and discounted travel tickets.

Only applications received by 12 noon on Monday 10 October 2022 can be considered.  For further information on the role, please refer to the job description and/or contact aadadminsupport@admin.ox.ac.uk
