Benefits and Wellness Manager
Office of Human Resources
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Wellness and Benefits Manager will be responsible for management of all benefits and wellness programs for employees and their families. The manager will be responsible for the oversight of daily operations and will supervise direct reports. The manager will partner with leaders, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure benefits and wellness management and enhancement initiatives are aligned with the strategic direction of the university. In the absence of the Director, assumes management of day-to-day operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. benefits and retirement laws, including ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, GINA and COBRA
• Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, customer service, and interpersonal skills
• Expertise in a variety of benefit and wellness program delivery models, tools, and methodologies
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Four years of progressive and combined experience in benefit program development, administration and strategy, including vendor management and negotiation
• Two years of experience in a supervisory role
• Two years of experience with benefit management systems, including report generation and data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s Degree
• Experience with self-funded benefits programs Insurance and/or benefit certification (CEBS, GBA, CIC) SHRM professional certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP)
• Experience and proven success in strategic planning and project management
• Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and effectively manage multiple complex projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment
• Advanced people management and leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop employees; and ability to work successfully as part of a team
