This is a permanent position in the McGill Engineering Student Centre
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Dean (Student Affairs), the incumbent will oversee the strategic direction, management, and operations of the McGill Engineering Student Centre (MESC ). In addition to management of the Centre’s team, the Associate Director will oversee the strategic planning of all programs and services within the MESC portfolio, ensuring quality and raising awareness of these programs and services among its broad constituency. Select responsibilities include oversight of undergraduate advising and student affairs services, career advising and education services (including industry liaison/internships and professional development services), the administration of scholarships, fellowships, and awards, the creation and implementation of strategic recruitment initiatives in line with the Faculty’s undergraduate and graduate enrolment objectives, the management of the Faculty’s peer tutoring services, as well as the development and advancement of current and new Faculty initiatives related to the student experience. The Associate Director will also maintain links with all departments/schools within the Faculty, as well as central university units, to attain MESC goals and objectives. This individual will also work collaboratively with colleagues from internal Faculty administrative units such as Finance, HR, and University Advancement, to advance MESC, Faculty of Engineering, and University projects and priorities.

Seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to be the Associate Director of the McGill Engineering Student Centre. Graduate degree preferred. Work experience in university setting with students and/or HR an asset. Demonstrated team-building and leadership capacity. Ability to motivate, lead by example and coach staff as well as collaboratively work with various groups and levels of academics, staff and students, with different mandates and needs. Demonstrated success in building and implementing effective processes and systems, ensuring compliance with laws, rules and regulations. Strong analytical skills, high capacity to creatively solve problems. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, strong customer service valuing diversity and integrity. Proficiency with computerized applications including spreadsheets, databases, word-processing software, Banner FIS, social media etc. English and French, spoken and written
